Wednesday, April’“30-14’“ Winnipeg, MB ‘“ Today the Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) announces the retirement of Bob Dolyniuk, the organization’s Executive Director for the past 17 years.

Bob has spent 43 years working in the trucking industry.  Bob’s first 26 years were with a number of Manitoba trucking companies in a variety of roles.  While in industry Bob was elected to the MTA Board of Directors and became the MTA President in 1994.  In 1997 Bob came on with the MTA as staff and eventually became the Association’s Executive Director.  For over 80 years the MTA has been the voice of trucking in Manitoba and under Bob’s leadership the MTA has built and strengthened relationships with all levels of government, for the betterment of industry and the province.

‘œThe MTA of today has a strong Board of Directors and a knowledgeable and experienced staff that are unafraid to challenge and question one another in order to achieve the best outcomes for our members.  The MTA Executive and staff have been managing this transition plan for many years.  After more than 43 years in this industry I am confident that now is the right time to step down and allow a new leader to take the reins” says Bob Dolyniuk.  Assuming the role of Executive Director will be the MTA’s current General Manager Terry Shaw.

‘œIncluding my time at the MTA I’ve worked in the trucking industry for almost 20 years.  As anyone familiar with our industry knows, the opportunities for learning are continuous.  I’ve learned much over the years but working with someone as knowledgeable as Bob has been a fantastic opportunity” says Terry Shaw.  ‘œThe weight the MTA name carries when we approach regulators on issues is a credit not only to the strength of our membership but also the reputation our association has for dealing honestly, fairly and intelligently. I’ve observed this directly while working alongside Bob and I am already using the lessons learned as I approach my dealings on behalf of our members” adds Shaw.

Last week trucking industry leaders, politicians, media and the business community gathered for a reception at the Metropolitan Theatre in Winnipeg for the opportunity to bid a farewell to Bob whose last official day as Executive Director is April 30, 2014.
