Membership Benefits

The mandate of the Manitoba Trucking Association is to serve the needs of the Trucking Industry and its interested parties through promoting a healthy business environment and advocating for safety, education, and responsibility. Through this mandate the Manitoba Trucking Association provides many tangible and intangible benefits to its members. The MTA is recognized as the Voice of Trucking in Manitoba. Our association, in conjunction with other provincial trucking associations and the Canadian Trucking Alliance, has and will continue to promote our industry, and to lobby governments at all levels on matters that affect our industry. We act as a liaison between our member companies and government departments. The MTA is a resource to our members by answering their questions, providing them with information or identifying additional sources of information to them on any issues related to trucking.

Such activities have included, but are not restricted to:

  • enhancements and harmonization in regards to vehicle weights and dimensions
  • enhancements to the Extended Length Vehicle system
  • development of an alternate assessment program on WCB for extra-provincial carriers
  • development of a Canadian drug and alcohol testing protocol that satisfies the U.S. regulations
  • the recent development, with the Manitoba Department of Highways, of a driver profile which truly reflects a driver's on-road performance and is linked to the carrier profile
  • the recent changes to the US Customs regulations regarding cabotage, and
  • the harmonization of many other rules and regulations that impact our members

There will continue to be many issues confronting our industry at the civic, provincial, national and international levels, and the Manitoba Trucking Association will continue to address them. The Manitoba Trucking Association maintains and continues its efforts through the financial support of its members.

Membership in the MTA also brings a variety of tangible benefits, including:
